1983 is a 2014 Malayalam sports drama film directed by fashion photographer Abrid Shine, who has written the story and co-written the script with Bipin Chandran.

The film is a family drama that revolves around cricket, it centers on Rameshan (Nivin Pauly) and his memories from 1983 when India won its first World Cup under Kapil Dev to 2013. Anoop Menon, Nikki Galrani, Joy Mathew, Srinda Ashab, Jacob Gregory, Saiju Kurup, Shine Tom Chacko, Dinesh, Sui Joseph, Neeraj Madhav and Sanju, make up the rest of the cast.
Nikki Galrani has a sister, Sanjjanaa who is also an actress. She did her PUC from Bishop Cotton Girls College and later took up a course in fashion designing. She said that she did science in PUC because her parents and sister wanted her to become a doctor but that they later let her pursue designing. She then did modelling and appeared in many advertisements.

In January 2013, Nikki was chosen to play the lead role in Ajith, the Kannada remake of the Tamil film Paiyaa, after an audition. Later, Nikki Galrani signed her first Tamil film, Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka and her first Malayalam film 1983 opposite Nivin Pauly. Though it was the last film she signed, 1983 released first and became her debut film. She played Manjula Sasidharan, a rural village school girl. She said that the character was exactly the opposite of what she was in real life and that she had to sunbathe to get dark for the role. The film received critical acclaim and became a box office success. Nikki had done a cameo role in Nivin Pauly's Ohm Shanthi Oshaana, which released a week later.
